How to register your vehicle in the Ecomiles app

To start recording trips with the Motorcycle, Car or Carpool (Driver) modes, the first step is to register your vehicle. This ensures your driving fits our sustainability guidelines.
📋 Golden rules for approval
To be accepted, your vehicle must run on lower-emission energy sources. We accept:
- 🍃 Ethanol
- ⚡ Electric
- 🔄 Flex (ethanol/gasoline)
- 🔄 Hybrid (electric/gasoline)
🛠️ How to register
On the app’s home screen, you will find a dedicated field for this. Fill in the required information:
- License plate: essential for validation.
- Category and year: so we can identify the model.
- Fuel type: be careful here! If your car is flex or hybrid, select the correct option. Selecting only “Ethanol” for a flex car may lead to rejection.
- Vehicle name: feel free to get creative with a nickname, but our tip is to include the car model (e.g. Planet-friendly HB20). It really helps our team during validation!
⏳ What happens next?
After you submit, our team checks the details:
- Timeline: validation takes up to 48 hours.
- Tracking: the bubble on the home screen changes to “My Vehicles”. There you can see whether the status is Approved or Rejected.
- New feature: once approved, you unlock the “Start Refueling” feature for that vehicle.
💡 Important notes
- Exclusivity: each vehicle can only be linked to one account. The same license plate cannot be registered on different profiles.
- Sustainability first: registration exists to make sure we are all driving on cleaner energy!
Vehicle rejected? Here is how to fix it
If your vehicle was not approved, don’t worry. Most of the time, the reason is easy to fix. Here are the main reasons and what to do in each case:
1. Check the fuel type
A common mistake is selecting “Ethanol” for a car that is listed as flex or hybrid on its registration document (the CRLV, in Brazil). Our system cross-checks the plate data and, if there is a mismatch, the registration may be rejected.
- What to do: delete the rejected registration and create a new one, selecting exactly the fuel type shown on your vehicle’s document.
2. Typo in the license plate
An “S” instead of a “5” or an “O” instead of a “0” can change everything in the automatic check.
- What to do: review the characters on your plate and try registering again, paying extra attention.
3. Vehicle already registered
Remember: each license plate belongs to a single Ecomiles account. If you share the car with someone who has already registered it, the system will not allow a second registration.
- What to do: check whether a family member or friend has already linked this vehicle to the app.
Note: Ecomiles focuses on sustainable commuting. Vehicles that run on gasoline only are not accepted on the platform.
